Solitary is a conceptual book project based on Ros Thomas’s writing on overcoming loneliness. The design approach aimed to bring lightness and optimism to a heavy subject through playful visual storytelling. Reflective, considered layouts guide the reader through the text, while bold typography is used for headings to create impact and clarity. Scattered throughout the pages are small, colourful quirky characters that add humour, warmth, and emotional relief. By balancing thoughtful design with gentle whimsy, Solitary transforms a difficult topic into an engaging, hopeful experience, encouraging readers to find connection, comfort, and companionship within the pages.
